Colonial History

The material contained within this section covers the American colonial period, from roughly 1585 to 1763, or the end of the Seven Years War. The topics addressed include the varying efforts of the major powers in Europe to colonize; the interactions between Indians, Europeans and Africans; patterns of migration of Europeans and Africans; systems of labor that developed; patterns of agriculture and regional economies; religious practices, beliefs, and variations; patterns of family life; social structure; local and provincial governments.

The written material posted to this section contains a combination of book worksheets (sets of questions) and book reviews (short critiques) which  help to ensure that a thorough knowledge of each author’s work is achieved.  These two types of academic writing serve as excellent excercises for exam preperations.
